    Take your passion of helping others to the next level by pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and a career as a Registered Nurse. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide direct care for the sick and injured or people with disabilities in hospitals, nursing homes or other medical settings.     Washburn Tech houses one of the premiere nursing schools in Kansas. Our Associate Degree Nursing program (ADN) is designed for post-secondary students. Instruction includes the knowledge, skills, attitudes and abilities needed to practice safely and effectively as a registered nurse. The program is approved by the . Please read through the application process before applying. You will need to be licensed as an IV certified Practical Nurse in good standing. You will also need to take the ATI TEAS exam and complete the Prerequisite Coursework with a C or better. Attending full-time, you can complete the program in two semesters. Upon completion, you will earn a 65-credit-hour Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing, and be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses. Successful completion of the NCLEX-RN enables the graduate to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN).

    The Washburn Tech Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program is in alignment with the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) CIP Code 51.3801: Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse. A program that generally prepares individuals in the knowledge, techniques, and procedures for promoting health, providing care for sick, disabled, infirmed, or other individuals or groups. Includes instruction in the administration of medication and treatments, assisting a physician during treatments and examinations, referring patients to physicians and other health care specialists, and planning education for health maintenance.

    PROGRAM ACCREDITATION

    Washburn Tech's ADN program is accredited by the (HLC), an independent corporation that was founded in 1895 as one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. HLC is recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

    Entrance Tests

    To enroll in this program, you must score a minimum of 55 on the ATI TEAS Assessment. Students earning a 55 or higher for PN admission do not need to retake the TEAS.

    NCLEX-RN Certification

    After completing the program, you will sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses. Upon passing the exam, you will earn the NCLEX-RN certification.

    Enter the Workforce

    With your NCLEX-RN licensure, you'll be prepared to begin working as an Registered Nurse (RN).

    Or you can pursue further career advancement in nursing with  and other health care fields.

    Schedule Options

    This is a competitive program. You must be an adult student when starting the program, and prerequisites begin in January, June and August.

     

    • A new cohort begins twice each year (August and January)

    • Instructional hours: Courses will be scheduled Monday-Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

    • Clinical hours vary, and could be as early as 5 a.m.; Occasional weekends may be required

    • Times for all programs are subject to change

    • Courses may be offered as in-person, hybrid, or online mode of delivery
