  • WHAT DOES AN INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN DO?

    Speed up your success with a career in the high-tech, high-growth manufacturing industry. Use different technologies to set up, test and adjust advanced manufacturing machinery or equipment. Technology is moving the advanced manufacturing industry quickly, so it is up to industrial production technicians to stay on schedule and ahead of trouble. Several local manufacturers have played an integral role in establishing this program which gives our students an edge when competing for open positions.

    Learning at Washburn Tech

    This program will prepare you to be a productive member of a manufacturing team. Instruction includes manufacturing processes and production, maintenance, safety and automation/fluid power. Students also learn to operate a forklift, earn the OSHA-10 certificate and prepare to take the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC) certification exams. Adults and high school students can finish by attending half-day for two semesters. Upon completion, you will earn a 30-credit-hour technical certificate and be prepared to take the MSSC tests as well as further your education in our Industrial Machine/Maintenance Technology program. Please note, this program is offered at Topeka Correctional Facility (TCF).

    Numerous scholarship opportunities are available to both adult and high school students. You may be able to complete this program at little to no cost. Please ask an admissions counselor for more information.
